We will go on 3 field trips each year to the Apple Orchard/pumpkin patch, the Fire station and the Zoo. Dates will be available as soon as we are able to secure an appointment with the venue and will be included in the monthly newsletter in advance. Parents will be responsible to transport their own child and stay with us at each field trip. The field trip takes the place of preschool for that day.
There will be 4 classroom parties to celebrate Halloween, Christmas, Valentine’s Day, and the End-of-the-Year. Each party will occur on the closest preschool day to the actual holiday. Please check monthly newsletter for dates and times.
We will also make sure to celebrate birthdays by having special privileges for the day (line leader and “gets-to-go-first” for the whole day) and of course a birthday song. Treats are welcome, but please coordinate with teacher in advance.
Children do not need to be fully potty trained to come to school, we can offer limited assistance in the bathroom if necessary.

Curriculum
While there are many ways to help kids get ready for kindergarten, We prefer to use a theme-based curriculum. We will study a theme for the month and incorporate it into our art, math, literacy, science and free play. The kids have so much fun becoming experts on each theme and can build upon what they learn from one class to the next. Themes can range from "farm and zoo animals" to "all things wheels”. Our activities are Montessori inspired as well as play based. We find value in both philosophies and incorporate them into our curriculum daily.
Our Team
Shelley Christensen
Owner and Teacher
Ms. Shelley has lived in Sherwood for 22 years. She is married to a local Sherwood Police officer and they have 6 children. Shelley has a BA in psychology with an emphasis in child development. She also has a Master’s degree in Special Education with an endorsement to teach children from birth through age 8. Shelley used this education to develop and facilitate a homeschool preschool co-op for 8 years while her own children were in preschool. She took a 5-year break while her youngest was in elementary school but turned back to her love of teaching in 2016 when she opened Little Farm Preschool.
Lindsey Broderick
Teacher
Ms. Lindsey has lived in Sherwood for 3 years. While working on a bachelor's degree, she took the scenic route and experienced many wonderful people, programs and places! After 2 yrs of school, Lindsey took a break and served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Chile and loved every bit of it. She has continued to find opportunities to integrate into latino cultures (Ella habla Español) and she loves them all. After coming home from Chile, she resumed school in AZ and simultaneously worked as an aid in an elementary school with 1st and 2nd grades. After graduating with a BS of Education, Lindsey worked as a 7th grade science teacher. After 2 yrs of teaching, she paused working to have and focus on her own 2 boys. Her youngest is a recent graduate of Little Farm Preschool! In addition to being an instructor here, Lindsey is a local K-12 school substitute teacher.
